Weekend Breaks in Cornwall
The Old Bridge House, situated in the Cornish seaside town of Looe, is the ideal choice for a relaxing weekend break in Cornwall, far from the pressures of everyday life. Here you can wake up to the sight and sound of the sea and linger over a delicious Continental or full English breakfast while enjoying stunning views over the harbour.
The quaint streets of Looe, which lead down to the sandy family beach, offer many and varied shops and numerous eating places, ranging from cafes and pubs to discerning restaurants. Looe's famous Banjo Pier is a striking landmark – you will soon feel your cares drift away as you walk along the pier breathing in the invigorating sea air and absorbing the amazing sea and coastal views.
From the beach, the South West coastal path runs through spectacular cliff top scenery and you can walk westward to the historic fishing village of Polperro or eastward to Millendreath beach and, for the more energetic, on to Seaton beach. There are also beautiful woodland walks running inland from the Old Bridge House along the estuary and Looe Valley.
In the evening you can watch the fishing trawlers return with their day's catch. If you want to try your hand at fishing yourself, look out for signs advertising deep sea or shark fishing on the quay side. Diving trips around Looe Island can also be arranged.
For those who wish to venture further afield, you can leave your car behind in Looe and take the train along the picturesque Looe Valley line to the market town of Liskeard from where you can travel on by train to other parts of Cornwall.
Even in the depth of winter, The Old Bridge House has much to offer with New Year being a popular weekend break during which we endeavour to provide a fun packed stay for all.
