Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the issues that come up on a regular basis.

If you have a query that we haven't managed to answer, why not drop us an email or give us a call. Alternatively, there is a form at the end of this page where you can send your questions to us.

We require 7-days notice to cancel all or part of a reservation. If you have given a credit card guarantee and provide more than 7-days notice cancelling your reservation we will not make any charge. Where you are unable or do not provide 7-days notice we will make every attempt to resell the room, however you will be required to pay for the first nights accommodation in full plus 75% of any subsequent nights that remain unoccupied. Deposits made by cheque are non-refundable. On the day of arrival, your room becomes chargeable in full and you will remain liable for the entire period reserved even if, for any reason, you shorten your stay

Parking

Upon arrival, customers are briefly able to stop on the double yellow lines outside the Old Bridge House in order to load or unload their luggage. Parking is available in one of several public car parks conveniently located close by, costing between £2 and £4 per day.

Smoking Policy

All guest rooms at the Old Bridge House are smoke free. Guests can however smoke on our front balcony. Please note where guests choose to ignore our policy a commercial cleaning fee is charged.

Arrival and Departure Times

Our standard arrival time is between 3:30pm and 9pm. We advise that we are unable to accept guests arriving later than 9:30pm without prior arrangement. On your day of departure we ask guests to depart their rooms after they have had their breakfast. The latest time of departure is 10am.

The Eden Project

The Old Bridge House is conveniently just a 20 - 30 minute drive away from the Eden Project. Once you arrive at the hotel we are more than happy to give directions.

Cornwall "off-peak"

Many people are only now discovering the secret of Cornwall "off-peak". Although some of the attractions do close over the off-peak period, an increasing number are open all year round. On top of this the roads are considerable less busy in the off-peak period so it is far easier to see the whole of Cornwall rather than the smaller localised part you are staying in. If you would like details of some of the attractions open during the off-peak period, log-on to www.theguide-cornwall.com

Eating Out in Looe

In Looe we are completely spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out. Whether you would just like to sample the local fish & chips, grab some pub grub, experience good Indian food or splash out on freshly caught and beautifully presented fish, there is something for your taste & budget. Most Restaurants in Looe cater for vegetarians and if it's a special occasion, we have a selection of top quality restaurants that won't fail to please. It is worth noting that some of the more popular restaurants book up in advance over the peak months. If you would like to discuss recommendations please call us and we can assist.

Public Transport

Reaching Looe by public transport couldn't be easier. The Looe Valley Line, which is a tourist attraction in itself, operates between Liskeard and Looe on a regular basis. For full details of train times call 08457 48 49 50 (Local Rate). Once you've arrived in Looe there is a bus and rail network operating throughout the county that will get you just about anywhere you want to go. For timetable information call 0870 6082608 or log-on to www.traveline.org.uk

Shopping

Because of the historic nature of Looe we do not have the majority of the large multiple stores. The shopping area is mainly made up of shops selling locally produced crafts, giftware and produce. We do have a local Boots, Somerfield, stationers and most of the main banks are represented here.

Pets

The Old Bridge House is home to Teddy, our West Highland White Terrier, who definately believes that he owns the place. Because of the distress he experiences when other animals are present, we are unable to accommodate pets

Specialist Activites

Generally speaking, the majority of our customers are holidaymakers as opposed to those visiting for specialist activities or events. Rather than trying to be all things to all people, we focus our services towards our main customer base. For this reason we do not offer specific facilities such as early breakfasts, packed lunches, washing or drying facilities for diving gear or fishing clothing and can not offer space in our freezers (this is for Health & Hygiene purposes.) We are however more than happy to recommend other establishments who are more suitable for this type of holiday.

Special offers "on-line"

Making your reservation "on-line" is generally speaking a great option for everyone. As such we are happy to offer those who use this system special discount rates. So firstly, booking on-line prevents us from having to stop whatever we are doing in order to answer the phone (Being a small establishment, there's only two of us doing just about everything). Secondly, it means that you will already have checked availability saving us from having to do that and by filling in your details on the form, we don't have to ask lots of questions, many of which involve asking you to spell things (like your address). For our customers, it means that making a reservation can be done 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You will never find that we are out and have to listen to our answerphone, or need to call back later. It also means that you will have had a chance to go through our terms and conditions prior to booking, so won't get any surprises later. In the end we believe that everyone is saved time and effort using this method.
